Hi, I’m Jen Viola, LPC (she/her).

Therapy, but Make It Real

If you’re looking for a therapist who sits in a stiff chair, nods solemnly, and asks, “How does that make you feel?” over and over—I am not your person. Therapy with me is a no-judgment zone, where sweatpants are encouraged, shoes are optional, and humor is absolutely part of the process. Healing is hard, so we might as well laugh when we can.

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor with a special love for Attachment-Focused EMDR, Somatic Work, and Brain Science Magic™ (okay, it’s not magic, but it’s pretty close). My job isn’t to “fix” you—because you’re not broken. Instead, I’ll walk alongside you, helping untangle the messy stuff that keeps you stuck. Think of me as your trail guide for healing—you do the hiking, I help with the map.

How I Work

I go deep. I ask the hard questions. I help you understand why you do what you do—so you can start doing things differently. My work is rooted in attachment-focused therapy, because let’s be honest: most of what we’re carrying now didn’t start here. It started in childhood, in relationships, in moments where we didn’t get what we needed. Together, we explore those old wounds—not to stay stuck in them, but so they stop running the show.

But healing doesn’t happen in your head alone. Trauma lives in your body, in your nervous system, in your brain's wiring. That’s why my process blends EMDR with Neurofeedback and somatic approaches—so we’re not just talking about your pain; we’re helping your entire system finally release it.

EMDR helps reprocess overwhelming memories and beliefs, rewiring your brain to respond to the present instead of staying stuck in survival mode. Neurofeedback supports that process by training your brain to regulate itself—improving focus, calming anxiety, and building resilience from the inside out. When paired together, these two methods help create lasting change not just in how you think, but how you feel and function every day.

If you're ready for real, layered, nervous-system-deep healing—this is the work..

What to Expect in My Office

  • Casual Vibes, Deep Work – This isn’t a place for pretense. Just real talk, real work, and a safe space to figure things out.

  • No Perfection Needed – Got ADHD? Same. Motherhood chaos? Been there. Lost in college? I get it. Forget what you were saying mid-sentence? Happens to the best of us.

  • Collaboration Over Authority – You’re the expert on you. I’m just here to help make sense of things and offer tools that actually work.

  • Relentless Learning & Growth – I constantly seek consultation, training, and fresh perspectives. If we hit a wall, I don’t stop until we figure out a way through it.

A Little More About Me

Before becoming a therapist, I was a teacher and middle school counselor (yes, middle school—if that tells you anything about my patience and sense of humor). I know what it’s like to juggle big emotions, big responsibilities, and the occasional “where the heck did I put my keys” moment. I believe in working hard and playing hard. I wear yoga pants, put my feet up, and bring my full, human self into every session—because that’s what makes therapy work.

If you're ready to dig deep, challenge old patterns, and finally start feeling like your authentic self, let's do this. Healing happens here—and it happens best when we’re real about it.

My Approach

EMDR… With a Nervous-System-Wise Twist

(Attachment, Somatic, and Now Neurofeedback-Informed)

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an absolute game-changer for trauma, anxiety, and all those old stories your brain keeps replaying on loop. But here’s the thing—trauma doesn’t just live in your mind. It’s woven into your body, shaped by your earliest relationships, and etched into the patterns your nervous system keeps repeating.

That’s why I don’t just use standard EMDR.
I combine Attachment-Focused EMDR, Somatic Techniques, and now—Neurofeedback—to work with your whole system.

Why Attachment-Focused EMDR?

Because it’s not just what happened to you.
It’s how it made you feel, how you had to adapt, and how your nervous system still reacts today. Attachment-Focused EMDR explores the impact of early relational wounds—how you learned to stay safe, how your brain and body learned to cope, and how those old strategies are still showing up.

This work gets to the roots, not just the symptoms.

Why Somatic Work?

Because your body remembers what your mind tries to forget.
Somatic techniques help us track and release trauma that’s been stuck in your nervous system for years. This isn’t about powering through—this is about slowing down, tuning in, and letting your body guide some of the healing. You don’t have to talk it all out. We work on the felt sense, the energy beneath the words.

So… Where Does Neurofeedback Fit In?

This is the newest layer of my approach—and it’s a powerful one.

Neurofeedback helps train your brain to regulate itself. We use real-time brain data to teach your nervous system how to shift out of chronic stress, freeze, or hypervigilance and into a calmer, more flexible state.

When used alongside EMDR, Neurofeedback builds your capacity for deep trauma work. It supports emotional regulation, reduces reactivity, and strengthens the brain’s ability to process stress. In short:
✅ You feel more grounded.
✅ You stay more present.
✅ EMDR becomes more effective—and safer—for complex trauma.

Think of it this way:
If EMDR clears out the old files, and somatic work helps your body let them go, Neurofeedback upgrades your whole operating system so it stops reinstalling the same bugs.

Complex PTSD & Trauma Therapy: Let’s Unpack the Hard Stuff

If you’ve lived through childhood trauma, emotional neglect, or relational chaos—you already know those wounds don’t disappear just because you “understand them.” They show up in the ways you relate to others, the anxiety you can’t shake, the shame that sits in your gut, and that relentless belief that you’re broken (spoiler: you’re not—your nervous system just got wired for survival).

In our work together, we’ll move at your pace to:
✔ Make sense of the past without reliving it.
✔ Build nervous system resilience so you stop getting stuck in survival mode.
✔ Rewire the shame and self-doubt that were never yours to carry.
✔ Help you reconnect with your authentic self—not the version of you that had to armor up and hold it all together.

So… What Is EMDR, Really?

EMDR uses bilateral stimulation (like eye movements, tapping, or sounds) to help your brain reprocess distressing memories and beliefs. It activates your nervous system’s natural healing capacity—so the past stops hijacking the present.

✔ Clears trauma, anxiety, and negative beliefs at the root.
✔ Works faster than traditional talk therapy.
✔ Backed by loads of research for PTSD, anxiety, depression, and more.

When we combine it with Attachment work, Somatic tools, and Neurofeedback, EMDR becomes not just effective—but transformational.

This is nervous system healing with depth, precision, and heart.
If you're ready to feel like you again—we’ll walk that path together.

This Isn’t Cookie-Cutter Therapy. It’s a Team Effort.

I believe in showing up as my full, human self in therapy—because healing happens when we feel connected. You’re not just a client, and I’m not just a therapist. We’re a team. I’ll challenge you, I’ll push you when needed, and I’ll support you without judgment.

Sweatpants are welcome. Shoes are optional. Humor is encouraged. Let’s get to work.

OCD: Taking Your Brain Off the Hamster Wheel

If OCD has you stuck in an endless cycle of intrusive thoughts and compulsions, we’re going to flip the script with I-CBT (Inferential Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). Unlike traditional approaches that focus on stopping compulsions, I-CBT targets the root issue—doubt and faulty reasoning.

Here’s how it works:
🔹 Instead of getting caught in compulsions, we change how you interpret the thoughts in the first place.
🔹 We retrain your brain to recognize when it’s making up stories that aren’t real (because OCD loves to make you doubt yourself).
🔹 Over time, you’ll trust yourself again and stop feeling like your mind is running the show.

This approach is evidence-based, practical, and incredibly effective. Together, I’ll help you get your life back
